The Man

Ric King began his career in the 1960’s in “The Peasants” which was probably one of the first ‘boy’ bands. The group recorded for Joe Meek and performed throughout the UK, headlining at Liverpool’s famous Cavern Club in 1966. The group also shared billing with artists such as Georgie Fame, Wilson Pickett, Sandie Shaw, Johnnie Kidd and the Pirates, amongst others. Sadly, at the end 60’s Ric got himself a “proper” job!

During the 70’s and 80’s, Ric continued to perform semi-professionally as the keyboard player for Blue Vein, one of London’s top function bands at the time performing at all the top London hotels as well as venues throughout the South Coast, including performances at Hampton Court Palace. Ric became the bandleader and arranger for the band.

During the 90’s, Ric began his solo career. He also composed and recorded the music for four educational videos resulting in membership of the Performing Right Society as a composer. In the mid 90’s, Ric was, once again, able to perform music full-time as a professional musician.

At the end of the 90’s, Ric appeared in a special “musical” episode of BBC TV’s “East Enders” for which he arranged and performed all the music.

Over the past few years, Ric has continued to perform as a solo artist for clubs, functions, and has also formed “Nuvane”, a function trio with himself, a guitarist and female vocalist.
